The North East Safety Camera Partnership (NESCAMP) has written to small businesses in the North East offering them resources to promote road safety and encourage drivers to stay within the legal speed limit.

A range of stickers have been made available to small business to help reinforce the message of driving safely within the speed limit. Stickers are provided free of charge and are for display within vehicles.  They are a useful reference for drivers who are unsure of speed limits or not experienced in driving on UK roads.

Small businesses are also being encouraged to take up the offer of ordering up to twelve driver logbooks.  These logbooks, which are provided free of charge, help businesses to keep accurate records of who is driving company vehicles on a specific date and at a specific time.  This enables them to adhere to Section 172 of the Road Traffic Act 1988 whereby it is the responsibility of the Registered Keeper to know who is driving a vehicle at all times. Non compliance can mean a fine of up to £1000 and six penalty points.

Julie Smith, Partnership Manager, said “Logbooks are an excellent tool for helping small businesses to comply with legislation and monitor vehicle use. NESCAMP is committed to making roads safer for all users and I appeal to businesses to take advantage of all resources that are available to them.”

Logbooks can be ordered online at www.transportlog.co.uk .  To order stickers for display in your vehicles please contact nescamp@grampian.pnn.police.uk , remembering to include your contact details (including postal address) in the email.
