| Following the success of the eight Pilot Projects, the Government invited
other partnerships to participate in the initiative and, in May 2001, the NORTH EAST
SAFETY CAMERA PARTNERSHIP (NESCAMP) was formed comprising
Aberdeen, Aberdeenshire and the Moray Council, Transport Scotland, District Courts and Grampian
Police. Significant Casualty and Speed analysis was carried out over the 3 year period
1999-2001 and casualty "Hot Spots" were identified to allow an operational
Business Case to be submitted to the Department for Transport (DFT) by July 2002 to meet
qualifying criteria. The partnership plan was accepted and commenced in October
2002.
The partnership has also been supported by Grampian Fire and Rescue
Services, The Scottish
Ambulance Service and NHS Grampian who all have the common goal of
reducing deaths and serious injuries on North East roads. |
